Dennis Freese

Dennis Freese is a clarinet, saxophone and flute teacher, composer and performer. As a performer, he has worked with some of the best known musicians on the World Music scene (African, East Indian, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, and Eastern European). He has also worked for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, performing in the theatre as well as with the Green Show (in 2004 performing on six different woodwinds). He also completed a western states tour of the music of Duke Ellington (Sophisticated Ladies), as well as performing with Larry Bernard and Journey's End at the Medford Jazz Jubilee.

As a teacher, Dennis has worked with young students and adults since 1975, and his gentle manner and great enthusiasm for passing his knowledge on to a new generation, has helped build a committed student base and great student success. He is an active volunteer in the school music programs, and a board member of the Trinity Respite center in Ashland, as well as a regular performer there. Many of Dennis' students are participants in the YSSO (youth symphony) program. His latest album is 'The Perilous Escape of Straggler Lemming', a retrospective of three decades of recordings of his original vocal and instrumentals works.
