![]() Glenn Freese has been performing and teaching in the Rogue Valley on guitar and solo hammer dulcimer since 1982. He is a former member of the band "Foxfire" and he currently performs with the "Siskiyou Summit" bluegrass band, "Blarney" a local Celtic music group, and in duet with Crystal Reeves. Recent performances featuring Glenn include "Oh Brother - Siskiyou Summit plays Blue Grass," plus several concerts that celebrate the release of the CD recorded by Siskiyou Summit entitled "From the Top." Glenn enjoys performing and helping to arrange music as well as writing original bluegrass music. In his studio located at 395 E. Main St. #9 in Ashland, Glenn teaches folk style guitar and flat pick technique as well as mandolin and hammer dulcimer. He teaches evenings and students generally come for hour lessons every other week. Children are accepted as students if the parents attend the lessons and play as well. Glenn helps students to learn at their own paces and he encourages them to practice and perform on their instruments for the pleasure and enrichment that these experiences provide. He assists his students in developing the foundations to be able to play successfully in most popular styles. Glenn began playing guitar at the age of twelve. He played in rock bands through high school and found his enduring interest in folk, bluegrass and acoustic music during his twenties. He is a skilled instrument technician and can be reached in that capacity at Cripple Creek Music Co. When not playing music, he likes to explore southern Oregon's hiking trails with his dogs Casey and Lily. |
