Ken Deveney has lived in the Rogue Valley since 1993. Mr. Deveney took piano lessons as a child and became interested in classical music composition during his high school years. While at Rutgers University, he took course work in music composition as well as other course work that prepared him for a career of teaching math and computers in New Jersey. After moving to the Rogue Valley, Mr. Deveney studied music composition with well-known composer Peter Sacco and also with Michael Turner, professor at Southern Oregon University. Now retired, Ken Deveney has turned his attention to composing major musical works. Recent compositions include works for chamber orchestra, full orchestra, string quartet, and voice & chorus. Currently Mr. Deveney is producer for SyZyGy, the Rogue Valley's contemporary chamber music concert series.
In addition to being a composer, Ken Deveney has acted as the president of the Board of Directors for Peace House in Ashland and is an amateur photographer, member of the Southern Oregon Photographic Association, and a painter in the watercolor medium.
