![]() Lori Calhoun was raised in Beaverton, Oregon. She studied vocal and instrumental performance at Portland State University where she studied with Portland area opera soloists Anne Marie Switten and David Jimerson, and with Oregon Symphony Principal Clarinetist, Katherine Paladino. After moving to southern Oregon, Lori earned a B.A. in music education and a B.A. in music performance on voice and clarinet from Southern Oregon State College. Since 1975, Lori has developed a rich performance background on stage and in the studio with appearances as a mezzo soprano vocalist, jazz vocalist and multi-instrumentalist including Bb, Eb and bass clarinet, soprano and alto saxophone, flute, and recorders. She is facile in many genres, and is noted for her expressive style, sight-reading skills, and impeccable intonation. Lori is principal clarinetist for the Rogue Valley Symphony Orchestra and has appeared with the Oregon Cabaret Theater, Oregon Shakespearean Festival, Rogue Music Theater, Rogue Opera and Rogue Opera Orchestra, and Southern Oregon Repertory Singers. Through her professional associations, Lori provides chamber music and referrals for other groups for hire for weddings, receptions, parties, dinner events and more. In addition to public school teaching including beginning band, high school choir and band, and college clarinet studies, Lori has an ongoing history as a private music teacher of woodwinds, voice and children's piano. |
