Martin Ball

Martin Ball has been exploring music through diverse instruments since 1988, playing in a variety of styles and genres. Martin first began playing guitar, keyboards and bass in alternative and reggae bands when in high school. In college and graduate school (where he earned in Ph.D. in Native American Religious Traditions) he picked up other instruments such as Native American flute, hand percussion, didjeridu, and throat and overtone singing. He has been composing and recording his own unique blend of music for many years, playing reggae, dream pop, electronica, world fusion, folk, bluegrass, and various styles in between. Martin's music can be found on numerous web sites as well as iTunes.

Martin previously lived in Santa Barbara, California, where he played didjeridu, percussion, and flute with the world fusion ensemble, Dreamtime Continuum and mandolin and guitar with fellow musician Christina Grimm. Martin has taught didjeridu playing and throat singing workshops at Burning Man as well as given didjeridu making workshops.

Martin is now accepting students for acoustic guitar (especially students interested in alternate and open tunings), Native American flute, Australian didjeridu, hand percussion, and Tuvan and Tibetan style throat and overtone signing. Please contact Martin for information about lessons and prices. Group workshops for didjeridu and overtone/throat singing are also available. Didjeridus can be provided for private lessons and no prior singing experience or ability is necessary to learn throat and overtone singing techniques.
