Nova is an experienced music professional of over 20 years, recently returned to the Rogue Valley. She has taught music at private and public schools across the country, but has enjoyed teaching private lessons and early development music classes for the past 10 years in Southern and Northern California, as well as Southern Oregon. All of her classes are taught with a fun and creative approach to musical learning. All styles of vocal and piano music are taught, with an approach from a classical base of understanding. Early development classes are taught based on years of research to facilitate the easiest and most effective ways for a child to learn beginning musical understanding and skills. Much of the lesson plan for these classes is based on a Kodaly inspired approach of learning music through "preparation," by listening and singing at as early an age as possible; (classes are ages 4-6). Nova is currently a member of the Oregon Music Teachers Association/MTNA. Nova holds a BA in music, with a concentration in voice, and theory/compostition emphasis from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles. In addition to classical vocal and piano training from an early age, Nova has attended programs in classical as well as jazz voice at UC Santa Barbara and Berklee College of Music, Boston, respectively. Nova has perfomed professionally since the age of 15, and currently has two CDs to her name, as well as appearing as a guest vocalist on others.
