![]() Mich Lewis has been teaching acoustic guitar in the Rogue Valley since 2000 and has been performing as a soloist and guitar accompanist since 1997. Her background includes a minor in music from Sonoma State University. Mich's studio is located at Court Street Music in Medford, Oregon. In addition to guitar, Mich provides instruction in voice, songwriting, percussion, and beginning keyboard. She specializes in teaching beginners of any age and has a keen interest in working on accompaniments for songs in all styles. Mich released her first CD, "Song of the River", in 1999 and in 2001 won three first places in the Jackson County Fair Songwriting Contest - two in the pop category (demo and radio ready classes) and one in the eclectic category. The Grants Pass Women's Crisis Center Benefit CD, “A Voice of One’s Own” features one of Mich's songs, “Dances Like She’s 17” as its first cut. Mich is currently the Vice President of the Southern Oregon Songwriters Association and has been a board member since 2000. She is often heard performing at the Lithia Artisan's Market in Ashland and at private parties. Mich enjoys teaching students who are looking for outlets for their creativity and who want to have fun singing and playing instruments. Music is chosen with a focus on the students’ interests. Mich's emphasis is on helping students to believe in themselves and gain greater self-confidence, accomplishment, and empowerment. |
