Oregon Old-Time Fiddlers Association
District 4: Southern Oregon

The Oregon Old-Time Fiddlers Association, Inc. (OOTFA) is a non-profit organization established "to perpetuate and promote Old Time Fiddling and Old Time music." We encourage everyone, young and old, to play their fiddles and appreciate Old Time Fiddling and Old Time music.

Many of our fine musicians are available to play acoustic old-time fiddle music at events in Jackson and Josephine counties. Three to ten musicians (complete with portable sound equipment) can be provided on fairly short notice. Regular performances, as well as special events, can be scheduled for larger audiences such as those at retirement homes. We are already "regulars" at many places.

Our players dress in country-western costumes with cowboy hats, boots, western shirts and jeans. A typical group consists of various acoustic instruments including fiddles, guitars, banjos, mandolins, and often a stand-up bass, but no drums. None of our instruments "plug in" to amplifiers, however microphones for instrument and vocal amplification are used as needed.

Our rates are VERY reasonable! We are not professional musicians but do strive to keep old-time music vibrant and alive. Many of our musicians compete at fiddle contests in Oregon and also at the annual national fiddle convention in Weiser, Idaho. Many are retired or semi-retired, but our younger members are also eager participants as their schedules permit. We do not perform where alcoholic beverages are served.

All performance income goes into our general or scholarship fund. A limited number of "pro bono" performances are also given each month.
