Patricia Potter, M.Ed. a distant relation to Harry, has been waving her wand and producing magic as a private teacher and conductor for many years! Her experiences include being the strings specialist and conductor for the Ashland School District, the founder and conductor of the Southern Oregon Youth Orchestra, and the Program Director for the first Peter Britt Youth Orchestra. In addition, she has been a member of the "Artists in Education" program administered through the Oregon Arts Commission and the Southern Oregon Arts Council, and a conference presenter for the Oregon Music Educators Association. Ms. Potter began music lessons at age eight and studied under members of the L.A. Philharmonic throughout her school years. She was a violin major at UCLA and later earned a Summa Cum Laude degree in music from McMaster University in Canada. Ms. Potter trained with master teachers Shinichi Suzuki and George Bornoff and earned a masters degree in education from Southern Oregon University. Currently Patricia Potter is spending the school year in Scottsdale, Arizona where she is teaching orchestra classes for the local school district. During summers in Ashland she provides violin and viola lessons, music enrichment classes and lectures, and ensemble coaching. Professional memberships have included the Rogue Valley Symphony, Oregon East Symphony, American String Teachers' Association, and the Oregon, Arizona, and National Education Associations.
