![]() The Rogue Valley Symphonic Band is an all-volunteer community band striving to present excellent performances of some of the finest literature available for concert band/wind ensemble. Repertoire contains a wide variety of styles and difficulty levels and includes very challenging works as well as "light" entertaining, toe-tapping music. The numerous fine musicians involved hail from the Oregon towns of Ashland, Central Point, Eagle Point, Gold Hill, Grants Pass, Medford, Phoenix, Talent, and White City as well as Yreka, California and several members of the band are active or retired school band directors. The Rogue Valley Symphonic Band rehearses weekly from September to June at North Medford High School in the band room of the group's music director, Mr. Steve Kessler. Performances are given throughout the Rogue Valley and concerts are often scheduled at area schools, usually in conjunction with the school's band(s), to demonstrate to the students that there is indeed musical "life" after high school/college. The RVSB also performs annually in the summer park concert series in Grants Pass, Oregon and at retirement homes and special events. The Rogue Valley Symphonic Band was formed in 1988 and was originally named the "Rogue Valley Wind Ensemble" (RVWE). The RVWE is now the parent organization of the Rogue Valley Symphonic Band and is recognized as a non-profit corporation. Membership in the RVSB is based on audition & the needs of the band. |
