Virginia Wickham

As a mother of four and also a grandmother, Virginia loves children and loves to teach young violinists. She understands children and develops a fine rapport with them, many of whom start at five, six or seven years of age. Since 1998, Virginia has been committed to the Suzuki Method and has been a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas. In addition, Virginia is a member of the National String Teachers Association.

Virginia has been very successful in developing in her students a real love for the violin and its music. Her students are known for their excellent technique and beautiful tone. She also accepts adult students and has even taught some in their seventies. In addition, she teaches country fiddle and has made two commercial recordings.

Early training for Virginia was accomplished with the concertmaster of a major Los Angeles area symphony orchestra. She also learned country fiddle and was a prizewinner in L.A.'s famous Topanga Canyon Banjo and Fiddle Contest. In the Suzuki arena, Virginia trained under Vera McCoy Sulentic (with the Suzuki program at Southern Illinois University), Linda Case, and Judy Bossuat (formerly with the Suzuki program in Lyon, France).

Virginia has played with the Rogue Valley Symphony and also in numerous folk festivals and fiddle workshops.
