![]() The Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon is a non-profit organization serving music students from throughout Southern Oregon and Northern California. The YSSO has grown to include over 197 musicians in three performing orchestras and is dedicated to providing talented, enthusiastic young musicians with exceptional performance experiences under the leadership of professional conductors and coaches. Its mission is to foster unique musical experiences that will lead to a lifelong appreciation of the arts. After auditions in September of each year, selected individuals are placed in the Youth Strings, Youth Orchestra, or the Youth Symphony. Two professional conductors, Dr. Cynthia Hutton and Faina Podolnaya, plus a host of skilled coaches, continually inspire the instrumentalists to new heights. The YSSO holds three concert series per year at the SOU Music Recital Hall in Ashland, the Craterian/Ginger Rogers Theater in Medford, and (during the Winter and Spring Series) at the Grants Pass High School Performing Arts Center. YSSO presents music expressed with fresh insight and incomparable enthusiasm. You are sure to be delighted by the sensitivity and surprising technical abilities of its members.
