The Rogue Valley Symphony is committed to bringing great performances of live classical music to everyone living and visiting the communities of Southern Oregon and Northern California. We believe music has the power to enrich lives beyond measure and is essential to the human experience. Whether it is your first time coming to our concerts or you have enjoyed many of our performances, we strive to offer you an exciting and memorable experience.
Organized in 1967, the Rogue Valley Symphony is a paid regional orchestra. Led by conductor Martin Majkut, the ensemble presents five Masterworks concerts per season, running from September through April. New in 2012 the symphony began its inaugural three concert Summer Series outdoor event featuring guest soloists and a chamber orchestra.
In December, a chamber orchestra drawn from members of the full orchestra presents Holiday Yule Concerts in all three communities. The RVS also presents a Symphony Showcase concert in May at the Craterian, featuring special guest performers.
Each Masterworks series is presented in three venues; Ashland at the SOU Music Recital Hall, Medford at the Craterian Theatre, and in Grants Pass at the GP Performing Arts Center. Diverse programs of works by the greatest classical composers of our time are paired with dynamic guest artists at the top of their field, creating exceptional performances for all to enjoy.
Music education, for everyone in our community, is a primary part of our mission and we offer numerous programs year round, including programs such as Chamber Players and Classical Coaches in our public schools and extended education for our patrons and community members. Connecting with the Classics provides free student vouchers for a child and a parent to attend a Grants Pass concert for free. In 2013, the RVS launched the Carnegie Hall program entitled Link Up in the Phoenix-Talent school district to bring music education back into the classrooms.
